PYP Foundations

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12.

The PYP transdisciplinary framework focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both at school and beyond.

HQIS develops students’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing, focusing on international-mindedness and strong personal value

The PYP nurtures independent learning skills, encouraging every student to take responsibility for their learning.

K-2 Lower Primary

These are developmental years of a child’s learning where learning experiences integrate socio-emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Children are active in the learning process which lays a solid foundation for future learning. HQIS Early Years PYP Teachers do this by:

2. Creating dynamic environments that promote play, discovery and exploration
Support children to explore their environment and learn about their world through play and relationships with peers, teachers, family and community members
3. Supporting children to explore their environment and learn about their world through play and relation- ships with peers, teachers, family and community members
3-5 Upper Primary
Through its inquiry-led,transdisciplinary framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves

There are 6 themes they cover over the year where subjects are integrated and taught in context to the theme.
American AERO standards are used to guide content.
PYP teaches students HOW to learn – not just WHAT to learn.
